A Modern Design Touch
Given that “classic” style is definitely enjoying
renewed popularity, the German art historian Joachim
Winckelmann invites us to reflect on the profound
reasoning behind the creation of works from the past,
with a view to bringing their style to new creations.
This is the aim underlying the I COCCI series, which
boasts all the charm of the old grit flooring in a
resistant, functional ceramic material.
This takes us back to the early 20th century, when
cement began to be used as a binder in restructuring
work, and pieces of marble and recovered materials
were inserted into flooring.
The distinctive feature of these floors is the “Spaccato”
in which the grain size varies depending on the size of
the different pieces inserted.
The “gravel” pattern in the “Spaccato” and repeated
on the base makes this collection suitable even
for more modern settings, both residential and
commercial. An age-old aesthetic approach given a
present-day touch to respond to the most contemporary
interior design requirements. A profoundly new take
on the material, with echoes of classical ambiences in
which elegance and sophistication make their way into
modern homes, recreating that distinctive prestige of
days long gone and giving it a contemporary twist.
